Terms of Service
By using this site, submitting a form, purchasing a consult or course, or accessing the client portal, you agree to these terms.
No attorney-client relationship
Nothing on this site, and no form submission, email, payment, or course purchase, creates an attorney-client relationship. That relationship begins only when a written engagement letter is signed by both you and Brian T. Boyd. Until then, do not send confidential or privileged information.
Educational content is not advice
Articles, videos, books, courses, workbooks, estimators, and event content are general education. They are not legal, tax, accounting, or investment advice, and they are not a substitute for advice about your own facts. Tax law changes and outcomes depend on specifics. Do not act on anything here without professional advice on your situation.
Estimates and projections
The savings estimator and any figures shown in examples or case studies are illustrative. They are not a promise, guarantee, or prediction of any result you will achieve. Past client outcomes do not predict yours.
Purchases, consults, and applications
Consults are scheduled after an application is reviewed and payment is received. Applying does not guarantee acceptance; some engagements are declined for fit or conflicts. Fees stated at checkout are due in advance and cover the described scope only. Rescheduling requires reasonable notice; a missed appointment without notice may be treated as delivered.
Refunds
Consults and audits are refundable up to the point work begins or the session is held. Once a session has taken place or a written deliverable has been issued, fees are earned and non-refundable. Course and membership purchases are non-refundable once the materials have been accessed or downloaded, because the content is delivered immediately. If something has gone wrong, email us before disputing a charge and we will try to make it right.
Course materials and license
Purchasing a course grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the materials for your own business. You may not share, resell, republish, redistribute, post publicly, or use the materials to train a model or build a competing product. Downloads are watermarked to your account and access is logged. Excessive or anomalous downloading may result in throttling or suspension of access.
All content on this site, including text, books, decks, workbooks, audio, and video, is owned by Brian T. Boyd or licensed to him and protected by copyright.
Client portal accounts
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity under your account. Accounts are for a single person and may not be shared. Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been used without permission.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to breach security, scrape the site, circumvent access controls or watermarking, upload malware, or submit false information. We may suspend or terminate access for any violation of these terms.
Third-party services and links
Payments are processed by Stripe under its own terms. Links to other sites are provided for convenience and are not endorsements; we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The site and its content are provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, liability arising from your use of this site or its free content is disclaimed, and any liability related to a paid product is limited to the amount you paid for that product. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or any professional obligation owed under a signed engagement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Davidson County, Tennessee.
Changes and contact
These terms may be updated; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. Questions: email brian@briantboyd.com. See also our Privacy Policy and Legal Disclaimer.
These terms are a general starting point. Have them reviewed against your practice's requirements and bar rules before relying on them.
